Every F1 season has a point where the loyalty of the drivers and the team is put to the test. And given this year marked the second year of rule changes, many teams were forced to reconsider their driver pairings in light of the sad results. Although AlphaTauri made a severe decision, the drivers of Ferrari and Mercedes had the ball in their court. Due to a variety of aspects, both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were rumored to be considering switching teams. As a result of these whispers, we saw a mysterious scenario occur in April of this year where the Monegasque and Mercedes Boss Toto Wolff were speculated about having a coffee date.

Toto Wolff appears to be a positive individual, especially when it comes to Ferrari-related discussions. As an instance, last year he voiced his support over firing Mattia Binotto, and just a few months after the start of this season, Toto Wolff stated that “Charles is a super guy and for the long-term future someone you have to have on your radar.” Indicating that Charles Leclerc will be on his radar. However, at the same time, there was a rumor going around that Toto had been having secret talks with Leclerc over a coffee.

The Mercedes boss, however, shut down any such rubbish news and claimed, “I have not had a single conversation with Charles, except that we discussed at the airport whether we are going to Starbucks or not. I don’t know where the rumor comes from and who spreads it.”

Since then, Leclerc has been upfront about his belief and that his only objective is to bring the Ferrari Glory back. And just in time for the Belgian Grand Prix weekend, Leclerc has officially put a stop to rumors that he will be switching to Mercedes. According to a viral tweet from Ferrari News, when the Monegasque was asked if he enjoyed being courted, he responded, “Surely it means I do my job well. But these rumours leave me indifferent, because I know what I want.”

He added, “But I still don’t know what Ferrari wants with me. The discussions for the contract haven’t started yet, but everything is clear for me.” Later, when questioned about what he wants, the Monaco native said, “I love Ferrari and I want to win here. That’s my priority.”

Even though Mercedes’s boss has vehemently refuted any rumors of a coffee date with Charles Leclerc, the Austrian did agree to have coffee with a driver who recently endured the wrath of fate.

Who did Toto Wolff respond “Yes” to a request for a coffee date

In the flash of an eye, the Formula 1 world astounds and discourages not only the audience but also the drivers and the teams involved in the high-speed game of chess. Toto Wolff understands how it feels when we abruptly collapse since he experienced the brutality of fate in 2021 during the high-tension finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

And in light of the fact that a driver recently fired by AlphaTauri, a Red Bull sister team, asked Toto Wolff for his time to presumably discuss his future, to which the kind Austrian guy responded “Yes.” The individual to whom we are referring is Nyck de Vries, who was just sacked by AlphaTauri, ending his nightmare season.

As a result, when De Vries asked Wolff for his time over coffee following his brief F1 career, the Mercedes boss not only responded “yes,” but the Austrian also said he would continue to help De Vries even though all the positions in his team are already acquired. As per fastest pitstop, Wolff said, “I am a fan of Nyck because he is enormously intelligent and has always contributed a lot to the development of our car.

Later he added and said that he feels bad for de Vries and all he could currently do for the Dutchman was to say yes to a coffee and said, “I do feel sorry for him. He called me Monday morning to ask if I had time for coffee. I did. On our team, all positions have been filled, but we will continue to support him where we can.”
