As we head towards the conclusion of the current season, it has become clear that Red Bull Racing will pick up the 2022 crown. Red Bull has finally found a championship-winning pairing since the Vettel-Webber era in Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. By doing one better compared to the previous season, the pairing will soon complete the double championship coup ending Mercedes’ domination.

This will be a huge feat for Red Bull, as they have been chasing the constructors’ title since 2013. With both drivers on multi-year contracts, Red Bull can start their era of dominance. However, an old teammate of Verstappen is keeping the doors open and eyeing Sergio Perez’s seat.

The recently renewed Williams man Alex Albon is looking forward to the possibility of a return to his former team. Perez replaced the Toro Rosso graduate after Albon failed to match the Milton Keynes outfit’s high standards. Albon was “on my own with my backpack” but there were no ill feelings towards the team’s decision.

“I’d say Red Bull is the same as any other team. There is always an option on any driver at any given time. That’s how it is,” he said.

“Obviously, I have a strong relationship with Red Bull from when I was 12 years old, so I still get on very well with everyone there but that is different now in that I am a Williams driver by myself,” he concluded.

However, Albon’s poor stint at Red Bull might be less of a reflection on him as a driver and more of an insight into the dominant nature of Verstappen.

Max Verstappen more dominant than Hamilton on teammates’ claims Formula E driver

There’s a reason, according to Sam Bird, that both Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon suffered a similar fate during their time at Red Bull. The reason being Verstappen’s sheer dominance over his teammate in the same car.

Bird said, “He’s able to destroy and dispatch people in such a manner that I don’t think I’ve seen,” for his performances against his teammates.

“Valtteri was closer to Lewis than anybody has been to Max recently,” added Bird.
