Lando Norris has consistently put in top performances for McLaren. He scored his second-highest tally in Formula 1 this year and also scored the bulk of the Woking-based teams’ points. However, Norris only scored one podium finish this past season and will be looking to consistently fight for podiums and race runs in the future.

Furthermore, there’s no denying Norris’ talent and potential. He’s one of the brightest F1 prospects on the grid currently. The Briton will be hoping for McLaren to replace the MCL-36 with a more robust car next season to fight for podiums and win races. But he was frustrated about not having a strong car this season.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the season finale, Norris said, “I hate that saying, to be honest, mate”, when Television presenter, Simon Lazenby gave him the infamous ‘best of the rest’ tag.
Norris finished the final race in Abu Dhabi in P6 after Lewis Hamilton suffered a mechanical failure and Fernando Alonso also had to retire his Alpine car.

Lando finished the season in P7 in the driver’s championship. He slipped one place from P6, where he finished the championship last season.
Lando Norris claims McLaren deserved to finish P5 in the WCC
McLaren did not have the best of seasons this year. They lost out to Alpine for P4 in the WCC and only secured one podium finish the entire year. Moreover, Lando Norris feels his team deserved the P5 finish in the championship after failing to hit the mark this season.
Norris stated, “Yeah, it’s where we deserve to be, P5. I guess you feel very disappointed when there’s a shot at P4 and you feel like you could have had it.”

He further stated, “But we’ve had one bad weekend of reliability. Alpine have had four or five, they’ve had a quicker car the majority of the year.”
Norris would like F1 rookie Oscar Piastri to support him in getting points for the team next season. The Australian is set to replace his compatriot Daniel Ricciardo next season.
