We are all aware of the social media feud brewing in the paddock. Former McLaren teammates Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso are taking digs at each other, with none being too subtle. After both the drivers have had their say, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff also shared his thoughts on the situation.

The former McLaren teammates have been at each other’s throats since 2007. The rivalry saw Alonso leave the team after one year alongside Hamilton. However, there might be some lingering feelings, as we’ve seen throughout their careers and twice this season already. After Alonso’s comments about Hamilton, Toto Wolff shared his thoughts.

Toto Wolff brushed off Alonso’s comments and said, “It creates headlines, and this sport is about headlines. They’re great champions. Alonso likes to throw one in. I don’t think it’s bothering Lewis a millimetre.”

To give context to the unaware, Alonso compared Hamilton’s championship titles to Verstappen’s, giving more value to the latter. How? Alonso suggested the Mercedes man won his titles against his teammates, unlike the Red Bull man.

Alonso later defended his comments. He suggested the comments were being sensationalized to create headlines. However, before Alonso’s defense, Hamilton posted a photo of the two from 2007 United States Grand Prix where he finished better than Alonso on the podium.

Hamilton even elaborated when asked for a reaction to Alonso’s comments.

What does Lewis Hamilton feel about Fernando Alonso’s comments?

Hamilton decided to respond to Alonso with a simple tweet. However, the cryptic post wasn’t enough for the world of Formula 1. So Hamilton was asked about his reaction and the world champion obliged.

“I gave you [my reaction]. That’s my thumbs up,” Hamilton said.

He added, “I don’t really have a lot to say about it. It does make me giggle a little bit to be honest. It’s definitely interesting to see the comments that are made, but it doesn’t really matter. So that’s why I just kind of put the thumbs up.”
