The Canadian GP was a weekend of two halves for Ferrari. On one hand, they had an abysmal performance in the wet in qualifying. Meanwhile, just 24 hours later, they showed their prowess in the race with some unexpected pace & strategy. Upon seeing this, the Red Bull Taskmaster praised Ferrari’s pace, deeming the Scuderia as closest to RBR. However, Charles Leclerc has now rejected the praise, rubbishing the Tifosi’s expectations. What did Leclerc say?

Ferrari had a horrific qualifying session in Canada that is best forgotten. However, Sunday was a whole different story. Ferrari made a bold strategy choice and made it work. And it wasn’t only that, Ferrari had great race pace, something that the Scuderia has been struggling with the whole season. Helmut Marko advised that Ferrari has the best race pace in Canada and was the fastest on both compounds of tires. Had the qualifying gone well, they would’ve had a shot at a podium or even a race win.

However, Charles Leclerc has rubbished Helmut Marko’s praise suggesting that the pace was good in Canada but there’s still a long way to go for the team. According to Speedweek.com, Leclerc said “Dr. Helmut Marko mentioned in Montreal that we had the fastest car on the track. That was nice, but I don’t believe him [Dr. Marko]. Nevertheless, our performance in Canada was a step in the right direction, especially in terms of constant handling and the driving experience.” [Translated via Google]
