Red Bull star driver Max Verstappen has recently opened up on his two F1 world championships. Even though “both are nice” to Verstappen, there’s always one better than the other. The Red Bull driver picked up his 2022 championship over 2021 and, of course, for a weird reason amid the cost cap catering saga.

Red Bull, who are accused of exceeding the budget limit of 2021, has, however, stated that the extra cost has come from catering to their crew.

Two days before the US GP, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez were invited for an interview with Pardon My Take. There, talking about his championships, the two-time world champion shared, “I think both are nice, I just think that you know the year we had last year, it’s not good to repeat that very often, but yeah, this year has been really enjoyable, and in a way, it’s nice because I can enjoy my food a little bit more, probably.” Its’s ‘interesting’ how Red Bull fed Max Verstappen so much that they exceeded their cost cap limit.

When asked if the Dutchman misses the competitiveness on track, Verstappen further stated, “To be honest you go into every race weekend and you want to do the best you can anyway right, like I mean you need to get the best result for the team as well. We know that we still need to win the constructors’ [championship] as well, so yeah, that doesn’t really change.”

Admittedly, the United States Grand Prix got concluded last weekend with Red Bull Racing picking up their first Constructors’ Championship since 2013. The Milton-Keynes-based team amassed a staggering 656 points as compared to Ferrari’s 469. An incredible gap of 187 points gave away the title to the Bulls with three more races to go.

How does last year’s championship compare to this year’s for Max Verstappen?

Max Verstappen has picked up back-to-back championships in two years now. However, the two championships have come in exactly contrasting ways. While the first one has come at the very last lap of the very last race after immense competition from Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, the second came way before Abu Dhabi.

With four races left for the season, Verstappen picked up the championship for this season after the rain-shortened race win in Japan. So in a way, the championship has come in a less thrilling way for the Dutch driver.

Moreover, the Dutchman has already broken the record of wins he had last season, with three more races to go. With the recent race win at Austin, the 25-year-old has taken his tally of wins to 13. equaling Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher. Whereas in 2021, Max Verstappen had 10 wins.

When it comes to the accolades, Verstappen picked up 13 wins, 5 pole positions, and 15 podiums in 19 races so far in 2022, as compared to 10 wins, 10 pole positions, and 18 podiums in 2021. All in all, the Red Bull maestro had more time to relax and enjoy his days as compared to 2021.
