Hamilton expressed gratitude over meeting Boseman and signed off with a popular catchphrase from the Black Panther movie.

You were the best of us: Lewis Hamilton

“woke up today to the sad news, our super hero passed away. I am devastated. I’m so grateful I got to meet you brother. Thank you for all you have done for us. Rest in Power King, you were the best of us and will never be forgotten. I’m sending love, light and prayers to you and your family. Wakanda Forever” wrote Hamilton.

Hamilton could dedicate a pole and potential victory in Boseman’s memory at this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix. With Mercedes looking stronger than ever, it’s unlikely for any of the F1 rivals to truly challenge the Brackley outfit in qualifying.

With F1 yet to enforce the engine mode ban and Spa-Francorchamps consisting of long straights, Mercedes have a real chance of clinching pole comfortably by quite some margin. Furthermore, Hamilton’s only real competitor today could be his teammate, who topped the timing charts in FP1.

Weather forecasts predicted rain on Saturday and during the race-giving the Briton an upper hand thanks to his supreme talent in treacherous conditions.

Mercedes hasn’t won at Spa in recent times and are looking to end their relatively short period of non-dominance. With Ferrari no longer having its once feared straight-line speed and performance, the Brackley outfit has a cleared road to clinch victory.

Moreover, team principal Toto Wolff revealed that there was “unfinished business” in Belgium. As a result, Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton are clearly motivated to stand on the top step of the podium on Sunday.
