Lewis Hamilton may be facing obstacles on the contract negotiation front with Mercedes, but that doesn’t mean the seven-time world champion has given up on dreaming to win a record eighth title.

With the 2021 F1 season only a couple of months away, the Briton is keen to continue his dominance over the F1 grid. Having already broken a host of Michael Schumacher’s records in the past year, Lewis has set his sights on breaking F1’s most incredible record.

Lewis Hamilton expecting Red Bull to put up a title fight in 2021

In 2020, Red Bull were the only team touted to be capable of competing with the Silver Arrows. But despite the Milton Keynes-outfit’s best efforts, they fell a long, long way short of expectations. Mercedes ended the campaign in first place, 254 points ahead of Red Bull.

But this year, Hamilton expects a tougher challenge. He said, “I expect a tough year, I can assure you of that. Red Bull has shown that they are very strong in 2020.

“We have always demanded the maximum from our engines, but they were simply faster. Therefore, we still have to work very hard.”

Whether Hamilton is luring his opponents into a false sense of optimism or he’s being brutally honest, it’s hard to tell. But fans would definitely hope Hamilton’s statements are true, because it’s about time we saw more than one team battle for the crown.
