Charles Leclerc started the 2022 season with a banger in Bahrain. The car was quick and Red Bull faced reliability issues. The Monegasque took full advantage of it and won two races from the first three Grand Prix. In fact, he built a 46-point lead over Max Verstappen at one point, which the Dutchman himself admitted was going to be a herculean task to overcome. However, the Prancing Horse failed to make much progress while Red Bull excelled. Resultantly, Leclerc finished as the runner-up, an experience a former Ferrari legend has had in his time. As the duo recently sat down to relive one of Leclerc’s worst memories from last year’s campaign, fans brutally trolled them both.

Leclerc started the 2022 French GP in pole position and got off to a great start. He survived the threat from Verstappen for the first few laps until the Dutchman went in for a pit stop. Cruising ahead in the lead all by himself, a momentary lapse of concentration dashed his dreams of winning the race. As the race progressed to Lap 18 and the Monegasque negotiated Turn 11, he struggled with the grip and went into the barriers.

Charles was recently at the Paul Ricard circuit with none other 2008 season, runner-up, Felipe Massa. The duo was sitting in a seminar-like setting where they were educating them about the intricacies of the circuit. However, it did not look like they were interested at all. Massa whipped out his phone to film them together and, interestingly, told Charles to pay attention to what was being said.

Some fans took this opportunity to troll them for being second-best in their own eras. Others enjoyed their back-bencher shenanigans. Take a look at how fans on Twitter reacted to the video uploaded by Massa.

Given the fierce rivalry Lewis Hamilton had with Massa back in the day, one fan joked that the Briton will start ignoring Charles if he saw this post.

The way Massa jokingly gaslit Charles, one fan felt he must have been the kind of student who would tell on his friends in school.

One fan wondered why they were sitting so far behind despite there being empty seats in front. Just back-bencher behaviour, perhaps?
