Mick Schumacher will make his Formula 1 debut this year with Haas. He is following in his father, Michael Schumacher’s footsteps as the F1 community expects the young German to live up to his father’s legacy. In a recent interview, Mick clarified he can handle the Formula 1 spotlight and the pressure that comes with it.
The young German succeeded in Formula 3 and Formula 2, despite the added pressure of his legacy. He has proven his abilities behind the wheel and is aware of the large spotlight hovering over his career path.

He said, “I think that it’s quite clear that I have been under a spotlight since a very young age. Especially due to the sport that I do and I love, probably a bit more than usual.

“Nevertheless, I think it is something I have been able to get used to and I would say about myself that I am able to deal with it pretty well.”

Mick Schumacher states he is indebted to Ferrari
The German became a Ferrari Academy driver in the beginning of 2019. Since then, he has learned a lot and also claimed the Formula 2 championship in his second season. He further acknowledged the Maranello outfit’s influence on his career.
“So it has been obviously a great couple of years and I’ve learned so much through them. I think I wouldn’t be here right now without them so I am owing them a great deal to the success that I have had. I’m looking forward to keeping working with them next year,” he said.

Having been promoted to Haas by the Ferrari Academy, Mick will join the grid in March alongside Nikita Mazepin and completed an all-rookie line up for the American team. The Formula 1 community is looking forward to seeing the Schumacher legacy continue in the sport.
