‘F1’ has seen a big hype! No, this is not about the sport, but the new Formula 1 movie by Apple Studios, co-produced by Lewis Hamilton that aims to be a blockbuster. With a star-studded cast featuring Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, and others, the movie is still in the making. Moreover, this piece directed by Joseph Kosinski, intends to capture the real passion of the sport. And to do so, the filmmakers are doing something never seen before.

The movie title may be minimalistic, but the effort behind it is extraordinary. Since last year, the crew of ‘F1’ has been going the racing tracks. Sometimes to drive an actual F1 car and sometimes to be a part of real-life practice sessions and qualifying sessions. Reel-life and real-life intertwined in the tricky corners and chicanes of F1! Taking, this project to a whole new level, Brad Pitt was present in Silverstone throughout the race weekend.

Pitt donned his APX GP gear at Silverstone, and they released the title and teaser on July 5. However, fans didn’t welcome this sneak peek. Despite all odds, filmmakers have still been able to maintain the thrill and hype revolving around the movie. Meanwhile, Brad Pitt and British actor Damson Idris appeared in the media pool after Sunday’s race. As part of the filming, the actors, in character suits, gave interviews to various media houses that day.

Fans were upset, feeling it was insensitive for Brad Pitt to film near a dejected Lando Norris after his British GP blunders. Someone even commented, “I’m done with Brad Pitt acting behind him.” However, the criticisms cannot completely undermine the mastery Kosinski is showing in the film. One simply can’t deny that the teaser featuring ‘We Will Rock You’ by Queens, is a banger. Brilliant cinematography indeed!

Director Joseph Kosinski is using his prowess at making action movies to make ‘F1’. In a recent interview, the filmmaker revealed how they’ve been shooting during the races as the real events are taking place. He said the actors Brad Pitt and Damson Idris are driving the actual cars, which is pretty spectacular in itself He emphasized the unreal logistics going into the making of the film. This project is unlike anything he has done before, making it very special.

“Last year, at Silverstone, we shot a scene on the grid. I think we had something like nine minutes to shoot a one, or one-and-a-half-page dialogue scene with three actors,” Kosinski revealed, adding, “It really brings an intensity and everyone’s leaning forward in a way that maybe you wouldn’t on a normal shoot day.” The director also mentioned creating technology for capturing high-speed footage for the movie. So, it’s a mammoth project, and fans must wait until summer 2025 to see it on the silver screen.
