Right before the pre-season, Lance Stroll revealed his helmet design for the 2021 F1 season. It matches the goblin green of the Aston Martin car and was shining very bright during the night race in Bahrain. But do you know how it came to be?

Helmet designs are close to an F1 driver’s heart since it is the only part of their race gear that they have creative control over. Lance Stroll is no different; he was researching for designs over the internet and that’s how he came across Mark Antar’s work.

“I have been designing F1 liveries and concept liveries for a while. I posted my work on Instagram and Twitter, but I think someone else posted it over on Reddit,” said Mark Antar.

Lance, as it seems, saw my helmet (design), and then it’s like a dream come true, really. So, they contacted me and we talked about working on Lance’s helmet because they really liked my work.”

And soon enough, his creation came to fruition. Stroll selected the all-green helmet with silver Aston Martin wings on the side as his official race helmet.

F1 drivers have the freedom of racing with a ‘special edition’ helmet on particular race weekends. Normally, they choose their own home Grand Prix or the team’s home race to drive with a different headgear. So, Lance looking to collaborate with Mark Antar once again for his home race in Canada.

“We have to make it a thing every year now. I am gonna need some new designs here and there now because it came out so great; Maybe Canadian Grand Prix or something. We can already put our thinking caps on. It’s the first of many, I hope,” Lance Stroll told Mark Antar.

Well, Sebastian Vettel isn’t the only one who takes a keen interest in his helmet design. His teammate, Lance Stroll, also shares the same enthusiasm. But Lance may have pipped Vettel with his helmet design this year, with the German donning a Racing Point-like pink design!
