The old Fernando Alonso wouldn’t have taken a second to think about it before disrespecting anyone. The Spaniard was clear and harsh in whatever he said. However, ever since joining Aston Martin, Alonso seems to have had a personality switch and has become the hero of the grid. But the old personality did come back when talking about Otmar Szafnauer as Alonso disrespected former boss and then, just hours after, took a jibe at Esteban Ocon. What did Alonso say?

Fernando Alonso’s relationship with the former Alpine TP Otmar Szafnauer was a questionable one. Both shared a very iffy relationship, especially during his final year on the team. In a recent podcast, Fernando Alonso talks about how people at Alpine, including Szafnauer, questioned his age and fitness. He then asked Otmar Szafnauer to keep quiet as Aston Martin’s results have been much better than Alpine’s.

Now, just hours after Alonso disrespected his Former TP, the Spaniard decided to take a jab at his former teammate as well. F1’s YouTube channel recently uploaded a video where the F1 drivers are playing a game. The F1 drivers have to guess the last name of drivers from the letter A-Z who have won a race. The fun began when the letter “O” came into play.

Fernando Alonso was struggling when it came to the letter “O”. However, the host behind the camera decided to help the Spaniard by giving hints. They said, “He’s been a teammate of yours. Tall and French.” Alonso then smiled and shook his head, signaling that he understood that it was Esteban Ocon. However, when it came to answering, Alonso said “Pass”. Looks like the 42-year-old didn’t want to say Esteban Ocon’s name out loud.

Ocon is the only driver whose name starts with O who has ever won an F1 race. The interesting part is he won his only race in Hungary. If it wouldn’t have been for Fernando Alonso defending against Hamilton for multiple laps, Ocon wouldn’t have gotten the win. Alonso recently revealed the reason why he actually left Alpine.

According to the F1 Chequered Flag podcast, Fernando Alonso said, “I think it’s true that it took longer than what I thought when we started the conversation back in Australia in 2022 about renewing the contract. It was just a very slow pace. It was not from my side. I was just ready and I was just happy. And the 2022 car, it was a fast car. I was happy with the performance and possibilities into the future. So, the slow conversations and eventually not even putting on paper what we were writing.”
