It is a well-known fact that any accident around the high-speed corner of Copse at Silverstone can be potentially fatal, with Max Verstappen almost ending up as a victim at the recent British Grand Prix. However, thanks to the safety standards of F1, the Dutchman escaped the impact with minor bruises.
Of course, the entire F1 fandom witnessed the condition of the Red Bull when it was towed away from the scene. The car was absolutely shattered and almost submerged into the tire barriers before the tow truck came to the rescue.
What’s more, the Austrian outfit’s boss, Christian Horner, opened up about another shocking truth that apparently occurred due to the impact.

What did the Red Bull boss say?
Writing to Red Bull, Horner revealed that the crash at Silverstone was so intense that it actually broke Verstappen’s seat. Hence, the Briton lauded F1’s present safety standards that most likely saved Verstappen’s life.
“A huge amount of credit must go to the safety standards of these cars, the Halo and the barrier systems. Because the impact was such that it actually broke Max’s seat,” he said.
Verstappen’s team radio said it all. The Dutchman was groaning in pain, and of course, that’s the least kind of reaction one would expect after experiencing a 51G impact. After remaining stationary for a minute or two, Verstappen finally came to his senses and started pulling himself off the car.
In the meantime, the medic team arrived and walked the Dutchman to the ambulance, who was driven to the medical center. Thankfully, news arrived that Verstappen had no internal or neurological injuries after undergoing a CT and MRI scan.

Who was to blame for the incident: Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton?
The crash at Silverstone stirred a debate amongst the F1 fandom over who was at fault. Initially, most of the fingers pointed at Lewis Hamilton, which was bolstered by FIA’s decision to penalize the Briton mid-race.
Of course, the incident could have caused serious physical damage to Verstappen, which was often used as one of the points to prove Hamilton was in the wrong.
But the new-age fans often forget that F1 is one of the most dangerous sports in the entire world. And such crashes are bound to happen, irrespective of how many tweaks F1 make to the safety standards.

Hence, racing alongside each other at over 200 mph around a bend might sound straightforward. But the reaction time could be somewhere around less than a second, which is extremely less, even for drivers of such hefty caliber.
Unfortunately, in this case, neither of the drivers managed to avoid the collision, with Verstappen being the unluckiest one. The weekend has gone by, and the blame game has subsided for now.
So, can the Dutchman manage to make a sound comeback at Hungary next weekend? Well, let’s see what the future holds in store for the Dutchman.
