At the start of this season, Red Bull signed Sergio Perez, replacing Alex Albon. The Mexican was just given a one-year deal. But seeing the fight for both championships getting intense, the Milton-Keynes squad wanted to give Checo a sense of security to help him improve his form.

As quoted by Auto Motor Und Sport, Horner said, “We sat down during the summer break and realized that we will get a better Checo if we give him security. The second half of the season proves us right. Checo has become much better.” (Translated from German via Google)

How well is Sergio Perez performing with the Raging Bulls?

Checo is undoubtedly one of the most talented drivers on the Formula One grid. Having the backing of a team like Red Bull makes the Mexican driver a force to be reckoned with.

So far this season, Perez has played a huge role in Red Bull‘s title fight. Individually, Checo has picked up five podiums, including his first win for the Milton-Keynes squad at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix earlier this year.
