During the 2022 summer break, Vettel announced that he would retire from the sport at the end of this season. In an Instagram post, the German broke the news to his fans, following which good wishes poured in from everywhere.
Lewis Hamilton was one of the many to send his wishes to the Aston Martin driver and now wonders if he’ll be back. As the sport moved on from the summer break, Hamilton opened up on the former Ferrari driver post-Japanese Grand Prix, yet again.
The Briton conveyed in a video, “I hope you come back, I hope you take one rest off and then realize you miss it and come back.” Hamilton further added, “He’s got a lot of compassion …He is a good ally.”
The 35-year-old German has had a glorious F1 career that spread across 16 years. In these years where he has 296 race starts as of now, Vettel has picked up four driver’s championships, 53 wins, 57 pole positions, and 38 fastest laps; he ranks among the top three drivers in the world statistically after Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher.
