The 2021 F1 season will be Honda’s last as they announced that they’ll be ceasing their F1 operations at the end of this year. As such, this represents their last chance with Red Bull to win an elusive world championship title, having last powered McLaren and Ayrton Senna’s title-winning charge in 1991. While Red Bull have looked pretty good in pre-season testing, fans’ hopes will be further boosted by Honda’s latest declaration.
The Japanese engine manufacturer believes that they are totally prepared to take on the new season. From their side, Honda claims it has given Red Bull and its sister team AlphaTauri the best possible package.
Honda F1’s technical director Toyoharu Tanabe spoke proudly of his crew’s efforts ahead of the season opener in Bahrain.

He said, “From Honda’s side, in order to improve our performance, we have modified many of our PU components so that we effectively have a new PU for this season. Compared to last year, the new one has more power, a lower centre of gravity and is very compact.
“Therefore, apart from the power increase, the PU has also improved the overall packaging and therefore performance of both our teams’ cars.”

After all, the Silver Arrows are still the perennial champions. And they have a certain Lewis Hamilton too among their ranks, one that is very motivated to Michael Schumacher’s long-standing record.
