At the end of the 2021 season, Honda will be parting ways with the world of Formula One. But, the engine manufacturer will still work with Red Bull as they will assist them as they transition into making their own power units.
The Managing Director of Honda, Masashi Yamamoto, is disappointed to leave the grid but he understands they need to be carbon neutral. Nevertheless, he hasn’t crossed off the idea of one day returning to the Formula One grid.

Honda maintains hopes of returning to F1
With the Japanese manufacturer leaving the grid, the Milton-Keynes-based outfit will form their own power units, Red Bull Powertrains, and will continue to work with Honda on a smaller scale.
Even though the Japanese manufacturer will be leaving the grid at the end of the season, they still have hope of returning to the pinnacle of motorsports.
Speaking to Formule1.nl, he said, “I personally think that Honda will return to Formula 1. The situation now is that Honda needs to focus on becoming CO2 neutral and accelerate that project.
