Fans are growing increasingly restless, and the target of their ire this time is none other than Red Bull. At the heart of the furor lies the team’s perceived lack of support for their second driver, Sergio Perez. Christian Horner, team principal of Red Bull, recently stated that Perez is going through a “difficult” patch. However, this statement has sparked a debate on Twitter, with fans questioning Red Bull’s management style and their treatment of the Mexican driver.
The Canadian Grand Prix was yet another event where Perez’s performance was a point of contention. Perez finished a distant sixth, over 50 seconds behind his teammate and race winner Max Verstappen. In a tweet, Motorsport.com describes Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner’s beliefs regarding Checo’s slump. The tweet talks about Perez possibly being burned out and in need of a podium place weekend for the required boost. He also added that all that Perez needed was a good weekend to increase his confidence.
Red Bull needs to support Perez through the "difficult" #F1 patch he's going through, says Horner.
"I think he just needs a good weekend to just lift his confidence."https://t.co/tqwPpLu6Ol

Fans claim that the Red Bull car, which Verstappen seems to handle with ease, is a challenge for Perez, and that the team needs to do more to support him. One Twitter user stated, “Perez is teamed with a driver who’s magic right now in a car that suits only Max, I think he’s done as well as any driver would be.”
Though Christian Horner tried to defend his driver by giving him a much-needed positive boost, fans called out Christian Horner for being benevolent with an underperforming driver.
Persistent Dissatisfaction Among Red Bull Fans
However, fans’ frustrations extend beyond the Canadian GP. They point to a pattern of second driver curse at Red Bull, suggesting the team is not doing enough to support them. An outspoken critic noted, “Redbull 2nd drivers always ‘forget’ how to drive for some reason.” Another fan took a jab at Red Bull’s history of managing drivers, sarcastically commenting, “Because RB fairly supported post-cycling-accident Mark Webber and mildly struggling Pierre Gasly in the past, right?”
Holy cow this is the first time I see Red Bull being benevolent with an underperforming driver 💀

Such criticisms are not without basis. Despite Horner’s comments, some fans suspect that Perez’s place in the team might be under threat. Rumors abound that Red Bull may be considering replacing Perez.
In public he'll say this meanwhile behind the scenes he's doing a deal with a new driver

Any driver paired with Verstappen is going to be overshadowed and look as if they’re in some sort of slump

Nonetheless, the situation is far from dire for Red Bull. They currently lead the constructors’ championship with a commanding 321 points, well ahead of second-placed Mercedes, who sits on 167 points. Verstappen, too, is in pole position in the drivers’ championship, with 195 points to his name, while Perez is in second place with 126 points.
