Best actor winner Will Smith came onto the stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock for making a joke about the former’s wife.

Lewis Hamilton praises Will Smith for his portrayal in King Richard

At the 2022 Oscars, Will Smith won his first Academy Award for his portrayal of Serena and Venus Williams’ father Richard Williams in the movie King Richard. The Hollywood actor got praise from all quarters for his acting prowess, including 7-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton.

The Mercedes driver is good friends with Smith, as we have seen them hanging out frequently. Will has also come to support his friend at the races quite a few times. Hamilton was very much proud of his friend and his portrayal of Richard Williams in the movie.

“Of course, I know Will, so really proud of what he was able to project with this film. I know he’s had awards and stuff, but I was really moved by the story because I think all of us have watched both of them rise and seen their success and trials and tribulations,” said Lewis.

“But like all of us, [we] very much don’t always understand what it’s taken to get there. People that tune in probably just think that they’re just the best, and do not understanding the commitment and the time and sacrifice that they have to put in. So it’s amazing that Will was able to highlight that,” said the Mercedes driver.
