Heading into the Mexican GP this weekend, the battles for the P1s in the World Drivers Championship and World Constructors’ Championship no longer exist. The battles are now for the P2s – with the second position up for grabs in both championships. Therefore, Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will have important roles to play.

As the WDC and WCC were clinched in Japan and Austin, respectively, the focus shifted to who will win the second position. In the WDC, the battle is mainly between Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez, with George Russell having an outside chance. Similarly, in the WCC, the battle is between Ferrari and Mercedes.

Therefore, the drivers of these teams, especially Ferrari, given the stakes are much higher for them, will have a lot of work to do in the remaining GPs in Mexico, Brazil, and Abu Dhabi. But that doesn’t mean they stop having fun, do they?

In a season where we’ve enjoyed the excellent relationship between Checo and Max, or what fans like to call, Chestappen, Sainz and Leclerc are contenders for the best/closest driver pairing on the grid. Earlier in the season, there seemed to be some doubts about the nature of their friendship, but the new updates appear to clear all those doubts.

The two drivers look to be getting along very well and will need each other’s help this season and in the coming seasons if they want to succeed individually, as well as help Ferrari succeed.

If not for the mistakes the team made with their strategies, Ferrari could have arguably given tougher competition to Red Bull. Next year will be another chance for the Tifosi to have a crack at the title. With the great partnership that is building between their drivers, they would surely come back stronger.
