During this season, the battle between Mercedes and Red Bull reached new levels of intensity after every race weekend. While Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen engaged in several battles on track, Toto Wolff and Christian Horner engaged in their own off it.

Although the battle for top honors is quite intense, they share a fair amount of light-hearted moments. Ahead of the United States Grand Prix, Horner referenced Wolff’s original name to generate some humor.

Throughout the season, Wolff and Horner traded verbal barbs on more than one occasion. While Wolff and Mercedes spoke against Red Bull’s flexi-wing technology, Horner and his team spoke against the Silver Arrows’ sudden increase in power output.

Ahead of the upcoming race in Austin however, Horner took a sly dig at his Austrian adversary. When asked what he respected about Wolff, the Briton mentioned his original name, which is Torger Christian Wolff!

He said“His name and that he’s called Christian and he had to change his name. He’s got a good name, his real name.”

While millions across the world, and everyone in the paddock call him Toto, it would be interesting to see if Horner addresses his adversary with his full name in future appearances!

Can Red Bull outperform Mercedes in Austin today?

The two championship protagonists will battle for crucial points at the Circuit of The Americas today. Although Verstappen leads Hamilton by six points in the driver’s championship, Red Bull trail Mercedes by 36 points in the constructor’s championship.

Although Mercedes have dominated opponents at this track in the hybrid era, Red Bull hold the aces today. With Verstappen on pole and his teammate Sergio Perez in third, Hamilton could face an uphill battle in today’s race. Whether or not Red Bull can take advantage, only time will tell.
