Remember when Christian Horner advised that Toto Wolff‘s number is blocked on his mobile? And just days after that suggested that he cannot be best buddies with the Mercedes CEO. While the two do respect each other, they share the relationship of the rival Team Principals before anything else. Therefore, always find ways to get back at each other. The Red Bull TP is back to throw shade at arch-rival’s lack of knowledge as he trails Toto Wolff in a crucial race for superiority. What has Christian Horner said this time around?
Christian Horner warned the F1 and FIA about the 2026 cars and raised questions about the 50-50 power split between the ICE and the Electrical unit. Recently, news broke out that Mercedes are at the forefront of the 2026 engine development whereas Red Bull lacks around 10HP from the expectations set by the team. Toto Wolff suggested Horner is frightened of the 2026 regulations and hence is asking for reconsideration by the FIA.

Nonetheless, Christian Horner isn’t the one who sits silently as he throws shade on Toto Wolff’s lack of knowledge. The Red Bill boss suggested that he oversee what happens at the RBPT whereas Toto Wolff isn’t formally involved with the Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains. Hence, the Red Bull taskmaster has better insights. Horner even went on to call Wolff a customer.
According to Motorsport.com, Christian Horner said, “The feedback that I’m getting from the business, and as you start to see the programme really coming to life and as the simulations firm up are some of the limitations. Which are inevitable. So I would say it’s perhaps as a result of us maybe being well advanced that we’re actually seeing some of the limitations.”
Horner suggests that Red Bull is way ahead in terms of the power unit and hence has faced some limitations that others haven’t discovered yet, hence throwing a jab at Toto Wolff. Let’s see what Horner said about the 2026 Power Unit regulations in detail.
The 2026 regulations might turn the F1 machines into Frankenstein Cars.

The MGU-H will be completely removed for the 2026 regulations with the Electrical components producing almost 3 times the power of the current Power Unit setup. However, it has raised many questions about what will the teams do around the track with fewer braking zones as MGU-K derives power from the energy produced during the braking. Horner explained what this scenario might lead to.
According to Motorsport.com, Christian Horner said, “This needs a lot of detailed analysis because if we get it wrong then it will not be good for the spectacle. We could have drivers left on economy drives to look after their batteries, or having to change down gears on the straights. We have to make sure we don’t end up creating some Frankenstein cars that are not what was originally intended with the regulations.”
