2022 is an important season for Formula One. The sport is introducing new rules and regulations to make the teams more competitive. It will also introduce budget caps to limit the spending of the teams. To have better performance, AlphaTauri and Red Bull will work more closely than ever.

Red Bull and its sister team will probably have the same philosophy while developing their cars. The Italian team, AlphaTauri, mentioned that it would take the gearbox and some other key parts of the Red Bull team for the 2022 season.

AlphaTauri technical director mentions the parts they will take from Red Bull

It makes sense for the Italian team to borrow parts from its faster and bigger sister team. AlphaTauri Technical Director Jody Egginton revealed the parts they will take from the Austrian team.

“We’ll take the gearbox, hydraulics and rear suspension from the 2022 Red Bull. They’ve committed to building the same parts for both teams, as the regulations insist. The subtle difference is that all the aero surfaces on the suspension, the cladding, have to be team-specific. But the mechanical bits will be Red Bull’s,” said Egginton.

The Italian team hopes to fight at the front of the field by using the listed parts from Red Bull. Egginton also revealed that the team has worked in front of their own car for next season.

“The front of the car will all be our own. Over the last three years, we’ve sort of done mix and match. Sometimes we’ve taken more. In the first year of synergy [2019] we took pretty much all of the front suspension, then we took the inboard [suspension parts] and then in the final year we mixed it up.

For ’23, we’ll see because at that point there’s more parts available on the menu and the list of transferrable parts we can choose,” said the AlphaTauri technical head.

It would be amazing to see the Italian team closer to Red Bull on the grid. They have been stuck in the midfield forever and deserve to challenge for bigger prizes. Will they do it in 2022? Let’s wait and see.
