Red Bull have brought in a pool of drivers onto the grid because of their driver academy. However, it is a gift and curse, as those who don’t perform at the level they want to, can be dropped from their team at any time.
Juri Vips from the Red Bull driver academy has opened up about the pressure he has to overcome if he wants to reach the F1 grid. He also mentions the importance to impress Dr. Helmut Marko and his importance on the junior team.

The team has a knack for getting drivers with great potential onto the F1 grid. Notable names, such as Sebastian Vettel, and Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz, and Max Verstappen have graduated through the ranks.
Speaking about the pressure to get to the top, Vips talks to Matt Jeffray in an exclusive interview with F1feederseries. The driver hailing from Estonia said, “I think having driver academies is definitely a good thing, because you want the best drivers to make it all the way to F1, and those places push you to be the best.”
“Of course, when you’re performing well, everything is good and the atmosphere is great, but when you have a tough weekend, Helmut will let you know about it. There is always a pressure of being in these programmes,” he explained.

Any chances of Vips getting into the Formula One?
Most drivers aspire to reach the pinnacle of motorsport. However, for Vips, he will have to wait a bit longer, as Red Bull have retained Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez for the 2022 season.
While, down at AlphaTauri, Red Bull’s sister team will have Pierre Gasly, and Yuki Tsunoda for next season as well. But Vips knows if he keeps impressing Marko, he will eventually get the call up to race for either of the terms in F1.
