Max Verstappen has nothing to complain about, as the reigning world champion is doing exceptionally well. The driver also recently signed the longest deal with frontrunners Red Bull, which binds him to them till 2028. Verstappen recently won his Drivers’ title back in 2021. The Dutchman has since been on cloud nine, and also managed a last-minute clinch at the Saudi GP.

Max will be over 30 by the time his contract with Red Bull ends. His deal with them has also marked it to be the longest one yet in the history of F1. However, it did not come as a surprise to anyone, because we could only ever imagine Max with the Austrian team. The 24-year-old driver made it clear that he loves working with Red Bull and how it was “an easy decision” for signing this deal with them.
Max Verstappen can leave the team despite a long-term contract
Red Bull Boss Helmut Marko has recently revealed that Max does have an escape clause. He tried not to get too deep into it and explained how if the team’s situation worsens at any point, the star driver can always choose to quit. Moreover, Marko explained how Verstappen’s name is essential for grabbing deals with companies like Audi or Porsche. He explained, “Max is an important link in the chess game, It is not surprising manufacturers take this into account.”

“It was important for Red Bull to be able to say we have committed the best driver to our team until 2028.”

With Max’s fearsome driving skills, the Dutchman is surely one of the best drivers on the grid. Marko explained how having the best driver helps the team and said, “If you have someone like Max, it has a positive effect on the rest of the team and team partners.”
And on questions regarding who will partner with Red Bull in 2026, Marko revealed, “It’s still open. It makes sense we are the most attractive partner for manufacturers.”
