Another poor race weekend for Lewis Hamilton this season. The seven-time world champion finished P13 but the real pain came for him when his 2021 title rival Max Verstappen lapped him at the Imola GP last week. Even the Red Bull advisor shared his views on the incident.
Hamilton has been struggling with the 2022 challenger and the Imola race turned out to be the worse for him. Throughout the race, Hamilton didn’t get a single opportunity to get into the top 10. He started the race at P14, and gained positions, but lost them after his chaotic pit stop.

After failing to lift his record-breaking eighth world championship last season, Hamilton returned this season hoping to win the title. However, things are not going according to the plan for Hamilton. He has been complaining about the underivable car since the pre-season tests. Currently, the Brit is in seventh place with 28 points on the drivers’ standings. Meanwhile, his teammate George Russell is ahead of him with 49 points in fourth place.
After the poor performance in Imola, Hamilton has now given up on the championship so far. Instead, he will focus on helping his team to improve the car. Hamilton has said, “We’re obviously not fighting for this championship. But we’re fighting to understand the car and improve and progress through the year. That’s all we can hope for right now.”
