Red Bull hit Mercedes with another powerful blow as the Austrian team hired around 50 more engineers from the German team. The Red Bull vs Mercedes rivalry is a pretty known one now and the energy-drink-based team seems to be on the winning side.

Red Bull has taken over the charge to develop their own Powertrains from 2022 as Honda officially left F1 last year. The Milton-Keynes-based team already secured Ben Hodgkinson and five more engineers from Mercedes. They put Ben as the technical director of their Powertrains division. And now, they brought in another bunch of engineers again from Mercedes.

Talking about this, Helmut Marko stated, “Yes, something like this. I think that a loss of this size is not indifferent, it is quite normal that it can create some difficulties. And just before that, Andy Cowell was gone ”

How has the season been for Red Bull so far?

To call the start of the season a disaster would be much of an understatement. The crew and the fans couldn’t believe the way the four-times Constructor’s Champions started off. First, it was Max Verstappen, and then came Sergio Perez. Due to a suspected fuel pump issue, one came to the pitstop while the other spun. It was a sight the Austrian-based team didn’t see coming. It is believed that the cars suffered problems related to fuel injection, which eventually led the engines to stop working.

However, the comeback of the Milton-Keynes-based team was brilliant in Saudi Arabia. Sergio Perez took the pole position ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc while his teammate Max Verstappen took the victory against the Monegasque in a brilliant fashion.

Red Bull is in P3 in Constructor’s Championship with 37 points. They’re just behind their arch-rival Mercedes by a point.

However, it’s Ferrari that leads the championship battle with 78 points. As F1 moves on to Australia, it’ll be interesting to see if the Milton Keynes-based team manages to keep its winning momentum going.
