Lewis Hamilton exposed Toto Wolff and Co. for not listening to him. The Briton made the statement after the first race of the 2023 season. However, the scene on the other side of the paddock is the opposite. At Red Bull, the taskmaster is exposing Max Verstappen weeks after the 25-year-old admitted that he isn’t bothered by the records. What is the story behind it? How did the Taskmaster expose Verstappen?
Max Verstappen equaled Ayrton Senna’s win record by winning the Canadian GP and has now surpassed it after the win in Austria. Prior to the race in Montreal, Verstappen was asked about his thoughts on this record that he could potentially break. The Dutchman suggested that he doesn’t really care about the records. However, the Red Bull taskmaster has exposed the current championship leader with a surprising statement.
During the Austrian GP, Max Verstappen comfortably led the race for the most part and made the overtakes on the fresher rubber, overtaking the Ferraris with ease. However, the Dutchman pitted before the penultimate lap to set the fastest lap. Verstappen had already secured the maximum win points from the weekend and wanted the fastest lap too to make it a clean sweep. Marko revealed why the Dutchman might’ve been angry if he didn’t do so.

According to Motorsport-Total.com, Helmut Marko said, “We’re trying to make Max happy and I knew if he hadn’t set the fastest lap he would have been a little p**sed off.” He further added, “Max says that he doesn’t care about records, but if you ask him who has the most pole positions and how many or other records, he knows immediately.” [translated via Google]
After the Canadian GP, Helmut Marko suggested that Max Verstappen might not be showing his happiness after equaling Senna’s record but he actually is ecstatic about it. Nevertheless, the Taskmaster suggests that Max Verstappen is still improving.

Max Verstappen has showcased utter dominance this season. After the first 4 four races, nobody managed to get within touching distance of the Dutchman. However, Helmut Marko suggests that Max Verstappen still has a long way to go and is developing every day. The Taskmaster then complimented Verstappen’s capacity in the cockpit as well as the way he delivers the performance.
According to Motorsport-Total.com, Helmut Marko said “We haven’t seen Max’s maximum in Formula 1 yet. He’s getting better and better, and he delivers with so much ease. It’s amazing to see that. He talks to his engineer during the race, and it sounds like someone is talking during the coffee break. This also shows how much capacity there is.”
