George Russell has been delivering impeccable performance since the start of the season. This has kept him ahead of teammate and seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton. In just his first year with Mercedes, George has shown promise by finishing top five in 15 out of the 16 races so far.

When asked about the worries George faces having to go against teammate Lewis, he told ‘i’, “I am going up against the greatest driver of all time, I have nothing to lose.”

“He has won everything. The stats speak for themselves, so why should a young 24-year-old be able to compete with that? If you have that mindset, I am in a win-win position. I want to be world champion, but saying it, dreaming about it, is one thing-you have got to make it happen.”

George reiterates the importance of working hard on bettering himself and improving his performance. He believes this won’t keep him far from achieving his long-term goals.

Striving to achieve another brilliant performance at Singapore Grand Prix, Russell will look to secure a top 3 position in the Drivers Championship. Currently sitting P4, if he manages to finish in the top 3, it would surely be a remarkable achievement.

Russell credits his gaming endeavors for his betterment in driving. He shared, “I really enjoyed that competitive nature, and I was making so much progress, which was really fulfilling. Making substantial improvements, I was practicing every day, the more I worked the more I got out of it.”

However, the qualifying didn’t go as planned for the British boy.

How did George Russell fare at the Singapore GO Qualifying?

In a turn of events, Lewis Hamilton started the race ahead of teammate Russell. Disappointed with his performance, Russell apologized to the team.

Russell missed out on Q3 as he struggled to put heat in the tires, which resulted in a lack of grip. He took to his radio to exclaim his frustrations, “Sorry about that I really struggled. Exactly the same issue as in practice. Ahhh!”

While George qualified P11 for the race, he took a new PU before the GP and had to start from the back of the grid due to the power unit penalty.
