Carlos Sainz was fired from Scuderia Ferrari almost overnight. His revenge plan? Driving in the best form of his career. And ever since, Sainz has been on the podium of every race he has participated in this season. To add to that, every time this man has broken Max Verstappen’s dominance, it has been because of his strategy. And while running away from the podium contention and not having an ideal race, Sainz still donned his race engineer hat, questioning the strategy of Frederic Vasseur and Co.

There isn’t much to lose on cards for Sainz. Probably that is why he went so aggressive in the race yesterday, leaving Charles Leclerc a little unhappy. And with the whole ‘ousting him for the Lewis Hamilton episode and Ferrari’s continuous follies’ when it comes to strategy, there isn’t much left for Sainz to place his trust on.

This is exactly what happened during the Chinese GP. When Sainz’s race engineer came on the radio to inform him of what the race strategy will be amid waves of safety cars and the backmarkers playing bumpy cars, he didn’t have as much faith. After being informed that they will go for Plan D, Sainz questioned, “You think it’s our best bet?”

However, that was not the end of the debacle as, later, Sainz teammate talked about the whole incident.

Charles Leclerc talks about the “unnecessary” contact

Radios and Ferrari have been a funny story this weekend, from Carlos doubting Ferrari’s strategy to his teammate vocalizing his displeasure forfor his aggressive fighting yesterday. Stating that this has happened in the past (Italian GP flashback!!), Leclerc clarified the entire situation during the post race interviews.

Talking about the sprint and over the limit fighting, Leclerc said, “In the past we’ve had other fights where sometimes I was over the limit, sometimes he was over the limit. Today I think it was on his side. We’ll have to discuss, like we always do in these kind of situations. But we have a great relationship with Carlos so I have no worries… I think we’ll clear the air very, very quickly and it will be all fine, but obviously today I think we were pretty lucky to both finish the race. The contact was a bit unnecessary.

Having said that, do you think Ferrari will solve its internal conflicts and bag another race win this year?
