Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz is the youngest driver pairing in Ferrari’s history. Charles is 23 and Carlos is 26. This differs vastly from the age gap between Leclerc and Vettel, who was Charles’ teammate from 2019 to 2020. Vettel is a 4-time world champion and is a decade older than Leclerc.

The Ferrari driver admits that the dynamics within the team have changed because of the arrival of the Spaniard. According to the Monegasque driver, Vettel was more experienced than him, so the dynamics were different.

Both the drivers have contributed to the team’s recent progress, as Ferrari has been on pole position in the last two races in Monaco and Baku.

“It is a different type of relationship because obviously, he is my age, so we are laughing at the same things,” said Leclerc. “We also have the same interests. We are having competitions in basically everything we do and it is all going well.”

When asked about the recent progress made by Ferrari and if they can challenge Mercedes and Red Bull, Leclerc said, “In Formula 1 everything takes time, and if you look at the gap on a normal track like Spain, we are still very far [away]. So there is still a lot of work to do. I think there is a big opportunity in 2022 with the new regulations, so this will be very important for us to start in the best way possible.”
