Daniel Ricciardo has officially completed 10 years in Formula One. From a fresh-faced rookie at the now defunct HRT to a seasoned driver at McLaren, Ricciardo has gotten around. Recently, the Australian driver spoke to F1 about his career and how it has steadily run its course.
He said, “One thing I’ll say is, the desire to compete probably only got stronger. Maybe that’s still because I haven’t achieved what I’m still after.
“I have to control my emotions still, because I just want to get Sunday done and get out there. That desire, if anything, has increased in intensity.”

The Perth native enjoyed a great debut for McLaren with his new teammate, Lando Norris. Although Norris bagged a fine fourth place, Ricciardo was not far away in seventh. Of course, the Australian driver still needs a bit of time to adjust to life at Woking. However, he seems to have taken to the task like a fish to water.
What to expect from Daniel Ricciardo in 2021?

To be honest, the British marquee will be hoping that Ricciardo’s expertise can benefit them. Although Norris is talented, he does not have enough knowledge to help in the car’s development. Only an experienced head like Daniel Ricciardo will be useful in providing inputs to the outfit.
At the same time, Ricciardo is a proven race winner, back in his Red Bull days. He also racked up a couple of podiums during his Renault stint before he jumped ship to McLaren. So, the Aussie is a valuable asset to McLaren and he can help Norris in a mentor-like role.

In other words, under Daniel’s watchful eye, Norris can grow and develop as a driver. The Briton is still young and can easily be moulded into a better driver for the British marquee. At the same time, Daniel Ricciardo can provide a strong challenge to his teammate and to other rivals. Without a doubt, Ricciardo will want to return to the podium once again, on a more regular basis. Without a doubt, many of his fans have missed his famous Shoeys.
