Do you recall this year’s Azerbaijan Sprint? George Russell went on the inside of Max Verstappen and crashed into him creating a huge hole in the Dutchman’s sidepod. Well, guess what? It was a repeat telecast of that at the Belgium Sprint race. Fans are left infuriated as Red Bull has been served with a $143,000 bill all thanks to Lewis Hamilton‘s antics against Sergio Perez. Sergio Perez‘s 2023 season has taken a turn for the worse ever since the Miami GP. The podium at Hungary seemed like a fortune-changing moment but it’s back to square one. The sprint race in Belgium was a chaotic one. Starting under the safety car after heavy rainfall. After several laps under the safety car, when the race finally got going, a flurry of cars came into the pits to get rid of the wet tires and put the intermediates.

Sergio Perez made massive gains and ended up in P4 threatening to overtake Pierre Gasly in P3. However, as luck would have it, Lewis Hamilton in P5 tried to overtake Checo and the two collided. A huge hole was punched in Checo‘s RB19 as a result of that and some laps later after Checo lost multiple positions, the Red Bull team retired the car. There was also damage to the floor. The damage could cost Red Bull up to $143,000 which is the estimated value of a sidepod.

Fans were not happy with Lewis Hamilton’s move as they bashed him for his antics. Hamilton was rightfully given a 5-second penalty as his move led to a collision and subsequently Checo’s retirement. Let’s see what the fans are saying about Hamilton.
