“D***head,” this was the parting remark Max Verstappen sent George Russell’s way when the latter finally walked away after a heated exchange. The sprint race yesterday saw Max Verstappen and his sidepod on the losing end as going into Turn 1. George Russell who took the inside was trying to edge out Verstappen, and the Dutchman who has never really backed out from a fight tried putting his blazing Red Bull on the outside and suffered consequences. However, the harsh words and statements that followed have been heavily criticized. And the latest man to call it out is an ex F1- champion.
Damon Hill, who had recently asked Max to leave the sport if he isn’t happy and content with how things are going, has once again called out the Red Bull driver as the latter after losing yesterday went on to ask for scrapping of the format.
Damon Hill said, “Max’s comments about scrapping the Sprint shootout and Sprint are hallmarks of a ‘sore loser’. He should be thinking about tomorrow and putting the race behind him.”

While calling him a loser wasn’t enough, Hill has also highlighted how Max being pissed at George is uncool as the Dutchman has himself done people dirty.

And it had been a common occurrence for Max to not back down from a fight when he was fighting the mighty Lewis Hamilton. When the Dutchman didn’t have much to lose, he put his car in corners very controversially and that is what Hill has decided to remind us of.
Damon Hill stated, “If you cast your mind back to Monza [2021] with Lewis Hamilton, he just didn’t back out of the corner. He’s done it himself, he’s a hard racer – they’re both hard racers, George and Max, and this is what happens when you get a rock and a hard place together. It looks like you have to have that kind of default ‘I’m in the right and everyone else is out of step’ [mentality]”
