A devil with a winning habit, Max Verstappen, is on a glorious run currently. The Dutchman will destroy anything that comes between him and winning, and that is a testament to his iron-willed mentality. He recently turned 25 and with the form he’s driving in, Verstappen may be dominating the F1 grid for a long time.

It really feels unreal thinking that Max Verstappen won his 14th race of the season in Mexico. Yet, he did, and now he holds the record for most race wins in a calendar year. Furthermore, he also broke Lewis Hamilton’s record for scoring the most points in a season, with two races still left in the season.

Moreover, Red Bull’s Helmut Marko believes that it is a difficult feeling being Max’s teammate. Helmut Marko said“Having Max as a teammate is not good for your career. Max is very special. He was trained very harshly by his father, but with great success.”

He continued, For example, when he was less than 10 years old, they were in Italy, and as soon as it started to rain, all the other drivers went to the cafeteria for coffee or cake. Max had to stay outside, sometimes with frozen fingers. That’s why he’s so good in the rain. He can adapt immediately.”

Jos Verstappen reminisces about the first time he knew Max Verstappen would be a racing driver

Max Verstappen is known for his ruthless attitude on the grid. However, it isn’t something he’s incorporated during his F1 stint. He has always been adamant about succeeding. His father, Jos Verstappen, reveals one such incident from Max’s childhood when they knew Max was going to be a racing driver.

Jos said, “On the second or third day after he got it, he went on two wheels, had to adjust the steering and went side-on into the wall. Luckily, he was wearing a helmet, which got scratched. But he didn’t mind.”

He further mentioned, “He was driving all the time. He had a feeling with an engine. Didn’t matter whether it was a quad bike, an electric jeep – you know, the small things for children – or whatever. He was always busy with driving. Every day he needed to be on it.”

It was only natural that Verstappen grew up around go-karts. While his father once drove alongside the great Michael Schumacher, his mother, Sophie Kumpen, was also a former top-level karter. As a teenager, she competed against future F1 drivers, Jenson Button, Giancarlo Fisichella, and Jarno Trulli.
