The Haas F1 team has been in the headlines recently for ousting their team principal Guenther Steiner. The news came as a huge shock to the F1 community as Steiner had literally become the face of the team. In fact, you wouldn’t be blamed for thinking that he was the owner of the team. But, with the team consistently finishing in the bottom 3 positions for 5 years in a row, it was becoming evident that something needed to change. However, the recent reveal of the 2024 Haas challenger seems to have triggered the fans as they claim that the team hasn’t fixed the problem with their car.

Steiner’s removal as the team boss was a result of growing tension between him and Gene Haas, the owner of the team. Where Steiner believed that the team needed a steady influx of resources and investment to help the team grow, Gene Haas believed that the team had been underachieving under the leadership of Steiner. The result? Haas refused to renew Steiner’s contract for 2024 and beyond.

Citing that the team needs to become more efficient with the level of resources it has, Gene Haas promoted Ayao Komatsu, previously the engineering director of the team to take on the role of Team Principal. While there was little hope of a drastic improvement in 2024, Komatsu himself admitted that the team would start to see the impact of the change in leadership in 2025. You see, Haas has been struggling like most other teams to meet the weight requirements in the current regulations. And as they revealed their new car with even more pieces of exposed carbon fiber, it’s clear that the team is struggling to find a fix to their problems.

The community hits back at the underlying issue at the Haas F1 car launch

Haas recently showcased its 2024 challenger, VF-24, via a short video clip on the official social handles. However, fans were quick to spot that the car featured even more pieces of unpainted surface exposing the carbon fiber.

The fans took to the comments section to show their disapproval of the trend of shedding the paint off the car to gain weight reduction with the current regulation cars.

One fan pointed out that the only thing new about the CF-24 is the increase in the visible carbon surface.

Another fan pointed out that this is a sign that the teams haven’t been able to fix their weight issues and we’ll have another year of carbon fiber-rich liveries.

One suggested that he had predicted more black liveries in 2024 as a telltale sign of weight issues with the cars and fans have no choice but to deal with similar-looking cars.
