If you thought Mick Schumacher’s chapter with Haas had closed and his beef with Guenther Steiner had met its demise, it’s time to rethink things. The iconic intra-team rivalry that no one liked to hear about has been reborn. If you take a trip down memory lane, you might remember Steiner saying how he was “done with rookies for the foreseeable future” after Schumacher’s regular crashes that cost the American team millions of dollars. Responding to that, the German racer has gotten back strongly at his ex-boss.

Mick is now a reserve driver for Mercedes and is enjoying working in the simulator to extract the best pace for Lewis Hamilton and George Russell’s W14s. The confidence that he has built now is very high compared to the broken confidence that he carried working with Steiner. Even after his rookie season, there seemed no improvement in his performance because of which he was mercilessly ousted from Haas. However, he has finally publicly given his side of the matter, while getting back at Italian-American TP.

“In the end, I learned a lot as a person,” said Schumacher reflecting on his troublesome past with Haas, as quoted by Motorsport Nextgen Auto. “That people will never give you flowers – you have to pick them yourself. I know that now. And I feel very ready to attack again to show what I can really do. Because I don’t think a lot of people know that at all.”

After going through a dark phase professionally, Mick Schumacher was stranded with no role in F1. At such a time, Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff lifted his spirits by offering him the position of reserve driver for the Silver Arrows. He has been nailing this job with Hamilton and Russell praising him for his work on the simulator.

But currently, the German racer has “not much happening” for him in terms of a driver’s seat for 2024. “Many drivers are already fixed or have a contract that doesn’t expire until the end of next year,” said Schumacher. The German racer has conversations “almost daily” with Wolff about possible opportunities but to no avail.
