It is lights out again as Formula 1 is back for the second week running in Saudi Arabia. As things stand, Ferrari is the team to beat, as the Prancing Horses completed an impressive 1-2 in Bahrain. Coming to the mid-field, Haas made an imposing start to the season with Kevin Magnussen finishing P5 and Mick Schumacher almost ending up with points. And now, their hopes are only getting higher for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.


The pace of the car in Bahrain overwhelmed Schumacher. Going into Saudi Arabia, the Hass driver is dreaming of a podium and further establish his team’s chances of finishing higher in the table. He gave his thoughts on finishing in the points and a possible podium ahead of the street circuit race in Saudi Arabia.

Mick Schumacher has high hopes ahead of Sunday’s race

Speaking to Sky Germany, Mick Schumacher shared his opinion on where he would like to finish the race in Jeddah. The Ferrari Academy driver flared his confidence and believed a top 10 finish will be ideal, but even a podium is possible. He said, “A good result: being in the Top 10, a great result: being in the Top 5, and an amazing result would be a podium. Like I said, we can dream.”

Haas’ pace throughout the Bahrain Grand Prix has boosted the confidence of the team. However, it is easy to forget their troublesome start to the season. Nikita Mazepin was let go by the team ahead of the testing session in Bahrain. They appointed Kevin Magnussen as his replacement and he had very little time to adjust to the car. To add to their woes, they also ended their partnership with their sponsor Uralkali amid tension between Russia and Ukraine.

Nevertheless, Magnussen managed a P5 finish on his first race in two years. And Schumacher could have ended up in the points but unfortunately finished P13. Esteban Ocon’s crash with the 23-year-old early in the race jeopardized his chances of finishing top 10. However, the German is confident in the car’s potential and cited Magnussen’s P5 finish as a reason to be optimistic.
