The resurgence of Kevin Magnussen has been spectacular. To call it spectacular will be a bit of an understatement. Team boss Guenther Steiner called him a ‘Viking’ to commemorate the points he gained for the team in the first race at Bahrain.

From retiring from the sport to coming back again and finishing in P5 with Haas is an incredible achievement. Magnussen came in to replace Nikita Mazepin. The Danish international fetched Haas more points in just one race than Haas managed to pick in the entire 2020 and 2021 seasons while he was gone.
Talking about the nickname, Steiner conveyed, “He wanted to play it like the Vikings. So I nicknamed him ‘the shaky-necked Viking’!”

Some credit goes to Ferrari for Kevin Magnussen’s peak in performance
The Ferrari engines for 2022 seem to be the strongest as of now. The power units not only fetched Ferrari the top position in the Constructor’s Championship but also provided Haas and Alfa Romeo with multiple points.

Haas picked up 12 points in the first two races while Alfa Romeo picked up 9. Interestingly, both in Bahrain and in Saudi Arabia, Magnussen picked up points for the American team. With Mick out due to a high-speed crash in the qualifying, Haas lost an opportunity for points to finish.
Talking about this, Steiner further asserted, “We were convinced after the weekend in Bahrain that we had a high-performance car, and we proved it in Jeddah. The result there was certainly less spectacular, but the most important thing for us was that Mick (Schumacher) was safe after his crash and thus getting new points was a fantastic result.”

As things stand, Haas is in P5 with 12 points in Constructor’s Championship. The Kannapolis-based team is ahead of the teams like McLaren, Aston Martin, and Alfa Romeo. Despite a rough start to 2022 with sponsorship and driver issues, Haas is in a good place now. If not anything else, the team believes they can finish the season on a high. At least better than P10 that they got last season.
