The 2022 preseason is officially underway! Yesterday, Haas F1 became the first team to unveil their 2022 livery. The American team did not really change the colors from last season but made changes to the car as per the new regulations. But team principal Guenther Steiner mentioned that the car that was launched yesterday would differ from the car they would use in Barcelona.

It is expected that most teams would just showcase the renders of their new liveries. The teams are still in the development phase of the new 2022 season, which will mark the beginning of a new era in F1.

Today is a development phase in the direction of testing: Guenther Steiner

Just like other teams, Haas is working hard to develop a more competitive car. The team boss revealed that the 2022 car is a totally different car from last season.

I think the difference in appearance will be seen in two weeks, in Barcelona. It will be a little different car, of course. Today is a development phase in the direction of testing,” said Steiner.

“Then, between the VF-22 of the tests  (10-12 March, ed) and that of the first race of the World Championship, there are no big changes planned at the moment.

In any case, this is a totally new car and we can’t wait to get it out on the track for some laps. We expect reliability: if you have it, go ahead, develop, learn a lot, and above all, you get data so you can get the best set-up for the first race,” said the German.

2022 is a crucial year for the American team. They need to get everything right so that they can be more competitive and fight with the rest of the grid. Last season, they had sacrificed the development of their car to work on the 2022 regulations. Hopefully, the car they bring to the Barcelona test would be better than last year’s.
