It’s unfair to be fair, as life is unfair. While Mick Schumacher and Toto Wolff might feel Haas was unfair to the German driver, Guenther Steiner believes otherwise. The Haas TP has shot back at the Mercedes CEO after he criticized the Italian’s approach towards Schumacher Jr. Guenther Steiner’s comments aimed at Wolff have fueled the fire of the Schumacher debate as we now wait for the Austrian to make a comeback. Let’s find out what the F1 rockstar has commented.

Mercedes signed Mick Schumacher as a reserve driver for 2023 after Haas decided he wasn’t any good for the team. Earlier this month, Toto Wolff came out saying he’s looking out for the little Schumacher. The Mercedes CEO explained how his parents did nothing wrong with his upbringing. What Guenther Steiner said about Mick is complete trash. Wolff suggested that the Haas TP would not have treated Schumacher Jr. in the way he did if Michael Schumacher accompanied his son to the races.

Guenther Steiner is not one who backs down and has replied to Wolff’s comments as he fuels the disagreement. The Italian threw a jab right back at Wolff, suggesting he would not have dared to blame him if his father was around. Steiner explained how it was difficult to manage Mick because of his last name and the outside pressure that came with it. The Haas Boss suggested that F1 is about drivers who perform. The ones who aren’t able to perform get a kick in the back.

According to Skysports.com, Guenther Steiner said “What I have to say is, if my father would have been around Toto wouldn’t have said the things he said. It wasn’t easy, it wasn’t easy to manage that one because there was a lot of pressure from outside because of his last name.” Further adding, “It wasn’t easy, but racing is not easy, and coming up for young guys in Formula 1 is very tough and nobody deserves to be in Formula 1, you need to perform.”

Looking at things from the German’s point of view, Haas and the German media did put a lot of pressure on him. The Haas Boss suggested he hasn’t seen or heard from Schumacher since the season started. They exchanged a ‘hello’ at the Bahrain testing, but since then there hasn’t been any sight of the German. Steiner explains that he doesn’t have any problem saying hello. However, he doesn’t know how Mick will react. The Italian expects Schumacher to understand that Haas gave him a fair chance and the reason behind his firing as time passes and he grows up.

According to Skysports.com, Guenther Steiner said, “I haven’t seen Mick yet this year. I think I saw him at Testing and said hello but since then I didn’t see him because he is now at the other side of the paddock where the champions are. I didn’t run into him at the three races so far. I have no problems saying hello, I don’t know how he will react but I think we are all grown up. In the end, we had two years together, we tried to do something, and we gave Mick an opportunity which I think needs to be respected.”
