Once his contract ended with Red Bull in 2018, Daniel left for Renault in 2019 and later on joined Mclaren in 2021. The Australian gave ferocious competition to the greats of F1. Still the Honey Badger doesn’t find himself in an ideal situation.
Now Ricciardo’s exit from Mclaren has created fuss all around. Shane van Gisbergen, a two-time Supercars champion and a fellow Red Bull athlete, claims Aussie’s fallout of Mclaren to be ‘Political.”
On Triple M’s Rush Hour, he said, “Daniel’s obviously a top driver and nothing’s changed there for the last three years, but he’s gone to a team and he hasn’t been able to get comfortable for whatever reason.”
“You don’t go from running up the front to now being a grid filler and wasting someone’s time. It’s very political the way he’s been pushed out”

Shane van Gisbergen Believes Daniel Ricciardo is a championship-winning material
Van believes the Mclaren driver has been unfortunate and was a championship-winning material. But the tough hour at the grid has made the future star just a grid filler.

Being Partner to the Four-time world Champion, Sebastian Vettel, the Mclaren driver would have grabbed ample knowledge. Despite that, the Aussie’s current circumstances are leading him to a downfall in his career.
Gisbergen said, “They’re happy to pay him that $25 million a year or whatever it is… it’s a weird thing. You feel for him. You’re at the top of the sport and he should be at the peak of his career and he’s sort of getting pushed out.”
