It wasn’t too long ago when Lando Norris found golf to be a boring sport. However, as they say, the more people you get to know, the more perspectives you learn. During Carlos Sainz’s time at McLaren, the duo formed a special bond. Carlos, who is an avid golfer, converted his then-teammate who has now got the bug. How big of a bug, you ask? So big that Lando once played at Michael Jordan’s ultra-exclusive Grove XXIII with none other than Dustin Johnson. However, it looks like the tips did not really help him out much.

Norris’ enthusiasm for golf has picked up a lot lately. Just a few days back, 7-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton teed a few shots off with Lewis’ uncle Terry. Going by the looks of the photos Hamilton shared, it looked like the duo stayed well past the sunset.

Hamilton faced quite a lot of flak from the golf fans for his swing in the post he shared. However, his fellow Briton’s technique never came under scrutiny as he never posted a video of him swinging the club. Turns out, there’s no need for it as the McLaren sensation is his own worst critic.

Lando recently shared a couple of videos of himself teeing off at a range through Instagram Stories. In the very next Story, he wrote, “My swing is so bad still. Felt good at the time, but looks horrendous. Not happy with it.”

Seems like the British driver needs some more elite-level tips as he takes a break before regular action in F1 resumes in Baku at the end of this month.

When Lando revealed how his love affair with golf turned into an obsession

Being an F1 driver, it is understandable that Norris has a thing for a good adrenaline rush. Golf may be a thrilling sport in its own right, but it is definitely not a sport as fast-paced as motor racing. That perhaps was the reason why he didn’t understand the appeal of it.

In an interview with Golf Digest from last year, he told, “I’m not going to lie. I watched golf on TV and thought, This is the most boring thing ever.”

However, then came Carlos into his life and his perspective took a 180-degree turn. “I’m fully addicted, like I can’t describe how addicted I am to golf,” he added. “I watch it every weekend. I’m looking at the scores. I’m watching the live streams. The golf bug has really bit me hard, but it’s really enjoyable.”
