F1 drivers’ schedules are jam-packed. But that doesn’t mean they don’t get time off to pursue other hobbies and wind down. Max Verstappen, for example, can be found on his simulator steaming. Lewis Hamilton can be found surfing on waves. Lando Norris can generally be found playing golf. The McLaren driver steadily marches towards his steep goal just 3 months after dissing his own golfing skills. But how has Dustin Johnson’s disciple made progress?

Last year during the Miami GP trip, Lando Norris was spotted at Michael Jordan’s exclusive Grove XXIII. However, the 23-year-old wasn’t alone and was accompanied by Dustin Johnson. Norris explained to GolfDigest in an interview that he was amazed at how the professionals think at the course as he suggested that the pro golfers, including Dustin Johnson, have been giving him tips that he’s trying to inculcate into his play.

However, just 3 months earlier, it looked like Lando Norris hadn’t made much progress as he criticized his own swing on Instagram. The Briton posted a story with the caption “My swing is so bad still. Felt good at the time, but looks horrendous. Not happy with it.” Nonetheless, McLaren recently uploaded a video on YouTube where Lando Norris is being asked the same questions that were asked a year ago in a similar interview.

Norris was asked about how he winds down after a race to which he replied, “Trying to play golf, if I can.” He further added that his handicap is 15. He was then asked, “What’s it going to be in 5 years?” He replied, “5 years from now, I would like my handicap to be 5.” When the same question was asked this year Norris said, “I’ve made progress towards it. Yeah, I’ve made progress, just not that much.”

However, Norris wasn’t always a Golf fan. Surprisingly, the Briton found it to be boring at first. Let’s see how the story unfolded.

I watched golf on TV and thought, ‘this is the most boring thing ever.’” He then added, “I’m fully addicted, like I can’t describe how addicted I am to golf. I watch it every weekend.
