In the past few years, Formula 1, thanks to various reasons, has become one of the most talked about sports globally. This rise in popularity has also made F1 an attractive space for investment. We have seen a direct correlation with the increased interest in hosting races. If that wasn’t proof enough, we have seen multiple entities trying to enter the sport. The Alpine F1 team reiterated the point with their recent round of investment. However, with the recent development in Alpine’s list of investors, we see Rory Mcllroy snub the belief of Tiger Woods in his business partner, Lewis Hamilton.
Golf and Formula 1 often collide with athletes from both disciplines, taking a keen interest in the other sport. However, we have never seen the level of entanglement between the two worlds we are witnessing right now. Moreover, it started well before this recent round of $218 million investment in Alpine, which now includes Rory McIlroy.
Let’s first talk about the belief in Lewis Hamilton by Tiger Woods

First things first, let’s look at how the three global stars are connected. Back in August 2022, Mike McCarley, Woods, and McIlroy established TMRW Sports. TMRW sports, as the name suggests, is a venture to support the expansion of sport by harnessing technology. TMRW Sports attracted a lot of interest, which was followed by investment in the venture by some notable names. Among the many notable names is Lewis Hamilton.
The Brit added TMRW Sports to his business portfolio and joined hands with the golf legends. The CEO McCarley made a statement appreciating the investors.
The statement on the TMRW Sports website read, “Over the past year we’ve assembled a team of investors who will help deliver on the TMRW Sports’ mission to positively impact how sports are experienced in the future. From the very beginning our plan has been to partner with the best-in-class in every way imaginable and Tiger, Rory, and I value the support of this unrivaled team of investors, advisors, and ambassadors who believe in our vision to harness technology to create progressive approaches to sports.”
This is where the TMRW sports team talked about the belief in their investors, which also includes the Mercedes man. Following up on this belief, the $14.7 million venture made some groundbreaking progress with a first-of-its-kind tech-infused golf league in partnership with the PGA Tour called TGL.
However, soon after this, McIlroy made moves in the world of F1, which essentially snubbed Lewis Hamilton and Co.
How did Rory McIlroy snub Tiger Woods’s belief in Lewis Hamilton?
The Irish golfer snubbed one of his investors, Lewis Hamilton, at the 2023 United States GP. How? Well, recently Alpine sold 24% of its stake to a consortium of investors for a massive $218 million, which includes McIlroy. The golfer took time to see where he was putting his money during the US GP race weekend at the Circuit of The Americas.

We see McIlroy make his way to the track in an Instagram video posted by Alpine’s official handle. The team welcomed the “new investor” to the paddock for the race weekend at COTA. This investment in the French racing team effectively snubs his belief in Lewis Hamilton and his team.
We are not sure what kind of relationship the TMRW sports owner has with his investors, if at all. However, we are sure McIlroy’s investment in Alpine will make Hamilton think about his investment in TMRW Sports twice.
