When Lewis Hamilton entered the F1 scene in 2007, he took F1 by storm by winning 4 races in his debut season. Many were hailing Hamilton for being the first F1 driver of color and opening up the sport to a wider audience. Some even compared him to golfing legend Tiger Woods, who had revolutionized golf in a similar way. Though former F1 champion Nigel Mansell snapped Hamilton back to reality amidst these comparisons.

As per Reuters, Mansell told the Daily Telegraph in 2008, that one should not compare Hamilton or any driver with Tiger Woods. He stated, “I don’t think he [Lewis Hamilton] is like Tiger Woods at all.”

“Tiger Woods is the most incredible individual sportsman, just like Roger Federer. With motorsport, you could put maybe five or six different drivers in the best car and they would win the championship.”

Mansell still acclaimed Lewis on his record-breaking rookie year. While he also praised the pace of the McLaren car that helped the Briton to almost take the 2007 title. The 1992 champion believed that Hamilton winning the season-opener of 2008 was crucial to his title chances of that season.

Though, looking at his comments on Hamilton’s comparison with Tiger Woods; it might appear that it was quite premature to judge Lewis’s impact on F1. After all these years of his multiple championship triumphs, Mansell would certainly have a different opinion on this aspect.

Regardless, Lewis once spoke about how he has immense respect for Tiger. Thus, his comparisons with the legendary golfer don’t make sense. Even on his golfing skills, the Briton spoke about how he ain’t getting close to Woods’ skills. Still, Hamilton has been an ardent fan of Woods’ golfing career.

When Lewis Hamilton demanded a Tiger Woods movie

Back in 2019; Lewis Hamilton was quite happy and thrilled to see Woods clinching an elusive 5th Master’s Title and his 15th major one. The Mercedes driver was so amazed to see this triumph, he wished Tiger’s journey was made into a movie.

As per Sky Sports, Lewis had won his 75th F1 Grand Prix in China on the same day Tiger clinched this 15th major title. It was after a hiatus of 11 years that Woods attained this glory. It is just a classic tale of how these two sporting legends have broken milestones. No wonder Hamilton wants to see a movie on the same.

In the present day, the 7-time champion has got his own production company. Lewis is producing a feature film on F1 as well. So, he may even want to approach Tiger Woods for his biopic or a documentary and fulfill the dream project.
