In sports, there is a very thin line between witnessing excellence and boredom. We’ve seen it many times before in a myriad of sporting categories. That being said, the one arena where this is most apparent, is the field of motor racing. With Max Verstappen and Red Bull on the verge of a historic clean sweep, is the sport’s allure being robbed by the excellence of the Milton-Keynes-based outfit? Many would argue so, however, an unlikely ally crops up for the Bulls in the shape of McLaren CEO, Zak Brown.
Brown himself would be glad to get rid of this dominant streak that the Bulls have embarked on for obvious reasons. With Verstappen & Co. out of the way, McLaren currently seems like the best bet for an emerging team with possible championship success on the horizon. Then, the American should be calling for change, right?

Currently, a debate has been raging about how sustainable the current landscape of things can be for the future of the sport. And while Brown actually finds himself at a disadvantage, he doesn’t think stopping Verstappen by hook or by crook would do the sport any good.
On the contrary, he believes Verstappen may actually be the answer to see the sport grow. ESPN quoted Brown as saying, “I think we’ve seen in other sports, Tiger Woods win every single time out and ratings were never greater because people admire seeing an athlete at the top of the sport. I wouldn’t want it to go on forever but I don’t think it’s hurting us.”
“The depth of competition is fascinating, the races have been super exciting and they tend to cover the whole field. I wouldn’t want to see it continue, for selfish reasons, but for right now it’s totally sustainable.”
As Brown cited Woods to legitimize the rampant dominance Verstappen has been inflicting upon us all, the 47-year-old professional Golfer himself was once lured into the sport by a similar streak of dominance.

There was a time once in Formula 1 where we were witnessing similar levels of dominance as we are now with Verstappen and Red Bull. And to back Zak Brown’s points, Tiger Woods himself revealed how Michael Schumacher and Ferrari‘s dominant run between 2000 and 2004 lured him into the sport.
In an interview with Golf Digest, Woods revealed, “Well, when I was probably in my early-mid-20s, I was calling a lot of F1, in which Schumacher was dominant. I would certainly watch and he just dominated the sport for over a decade. Michael was so far away, well the whole Ferrari team basically, was so far away; better than everybody else. I just wanted to watch.”
