Netflix is all set to dabble in more sports for dramatic docu-series. After the mammoth success of F1 Drive to Survive, which is going to have its 5th season in 2023, Netflix also has its eyes on Golf. A show called “Full Swing” will premiere on February 15th, 2023 that follows the PGA Tour. On this, Golf fanatics are quite excited to see how this show impacts the sport. They would hope that the PGA Tour also sees a rise in fandom in the way F1’s popularity was boosted after Drive to Survive first came out in 2019.

Netflix, through their YouTube channel, announced Full Swing with its release date last month. This teaser video also revealed the player roster who will feature in this first season of the PGA Tour-based show.

Some of these names on the line-up are Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, Ian Poulter, and Rory McIlroy. Besides this, Netflix also revealed a full trailer this week that shows what is the premise of Full Swing for this first season.

While many are excited that this show will address the power game in Golf currently between the PGA Tour and the Saudi-backed LIV Golf, some are fearing the over-dramatization like Drive to Survive did. Apart from this, there is also the Netflix Curse that golf enthusiasts may want to worry about.

Recently, Netflix also premiered the first part of Break Point which follows Tennis stars. While it premiered right before the 2023 Australian Open, almost every player who featured in the show was knocked out of the tournament. Even F1 drivers have experienced a similar trend with Drive to Survive over the years. Still, it feels like DTS triggered a massive chain reaction for other sports.

Fans Excited and Hoping for a Good Netflix Drive to Survive Effect on Golf’s Popularity with Full Swing

Ever since the teaser of Full Swing dropped, golf enthusiasts have been excited about the show. Many have been conversing on Reddit and social media about the show. The question is whether Netflix will keep it authentic or inject some of the DTS drama. Still, the marketing so far has pumped up all fanatics of the sport.

Certainly, fans would not want to see golfers, appearing on the show, drop their form and performance. So, this would be another point to watch in Netflix’s next venture of a sports docu-series. Plus, will the template of Drive to Survive and Break Point stay? Or does Full Swing have something unique to offer?

Many are aware that Netflix puts a lot of fake drama in these sporting docu-series. So, Full Swing’s success may depend upon this aspect as well. Golf enthusiasts may not like such fake drama which we have seen in Drive to Survive to date.
