F1 in America has had its ups and downs before gaining some good popularity in the last decade. But if we rewind back to the late 90s and early 2000s, this was not the case. Yet, American Golfer Tiger Woods had his eye on the premier motorsport series in the world. In an interview from 2020, Woods revealed that he used to watch F1 passionately due to the dominance of Michael Schumacher.

Talking to Henni Zuel from Golf Digest, the Woods said, “When I was probably in my early 20s, I was following a lot of F1 when [Michael] Schumacher was dominant. Michael was so far away, well the whole Ferrari team basically was the far away better than everybody else.”

Tiger, the joint-highest PGA Tour winner today, mentioned how he was interested in watching how convincingly Schumacher and Ferrari beat everyone. He added, “That I just wanted to watch. And obviously not very prevalent here in the United States. It was tough to get but anytime I could, I would certainly watch and he just dominated the sport for over a decade.”
